| In the past 40 years we have seen the social safety net gutted, the middle-class wages stagnate. To reverse these trends, we need to restore the social safety net. Provide the poor with a hand up. Increase the minimum wage to $15. We must recognize the middle-class, not the wealthy, pay, more in taxes than any other class. If we ask them to shoulder this burden, they need to participate in what they pay for. Payments for college and free medical care are benefits provided to the working poor; these benefits need to be available to all American citizens. |
